Application effects of standardized health education for home monitoring of blood pressure in older adult patients with hypertension
To observe the application effect of standardized health education on home blood pressure monitoring in elderly patients with hypertension. The Delphi method was used to construct a standardized health education program for home blood pressure monitoring in elderly patients with hypertension. A total of 118 hypertensive patients discharged from the Department of Cardiology of Cadres of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from June 2021 to February 2022 were divided into a control group (n=59) and an observation group (n=59) according to odd and even days of discharge. The control group received follow-up education according to the nursing routine of the Department of Cardiology for the elderly, and the observation group received intervention according to the health education program formulated in this study. The blood pressure control level of the two groups of patients one month after discharge and the self-management behavior of hypertensive patients were observed. One month after discharge, the systolic blood pressure [(133.97±9.90) mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa)] and diastolic blood pressure [(74.41±8.36) mmHg] of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group [(139.10±10.84) mmHg, (79.27±7.07) mmHg] (t =-2.20, -3.61, both P < 0.05). The total score of self-management behavior in the observation group [(137.10±5.82) points] was significantly higher than that of the control group (123.00±6.96) points (t =-12.22, P < 0.05). The application of home blood pressure monitoring and standardized health education program can improve the blood pressure control level and self-management level of elderly patients.
